Ward

Mr. Ward was tuinder in een landhuis ‚Prospect Hill House‘ gelegen in het Engelse Reading, Berkshire.

Hij bekwam in 1854 een aardbei waarvan hij de naam ‚Omer Pacha‘ aan gaf.

Dit ras zal niet lang stand houden, we treffen hem aan in catalogus Louis Van Houtte-1857-, catalogus Pierre Vallette-1890-, en

hij wordt beschreven en geïllustreerd in “The Florist, Fruitist and Garden Miscellany”-1854-London-England-

„ Nice looking fruits of good quality, it is of a bright red colour when exposed tot he sun, flesh white, solid, fine graines, saccharine, and moderately juicy with a flavour resembling the old pine..“
